Oat COM Skin Trial 2

Project Overview

This project involved long-term skin trials to assess the textural properties of Oat® COM and its effects on various skin types.

KEY POINTS

An independent research facility conducted a single placement study:

  • Participants: 53 female participants, all over 40 years old, with normal, dry, and sensitive skin types equally represented.
  • Application: A single daily application of the test cream.
  • Assessment Periods:
    • Short-term: After 6, 12, and 24 hours (Trial 2)
    • Long-term: After 30, 60, and 90 days (Trial 3)
  • Test Formulation: A market-relevant passive base formulation with a 3% Oat® COM extruded Colloidal Oatmeal inclusion.
  • Cohort Grouping: Skin types were assessed as a combined cohort, as well as individual cohorts.

Key Findings

Upon initial application, all test subjects reported positive responses regarding skin feel, lack of greasiness, and moisturisation. Over 93% agreed or strongly agreed that the product left their skin feeling soft after use.

The post-absorption moisturisation responses were highly positive, especially for a single application, strongly indicating Oat COM’s ability to improve skin feel and reduce greasiness in formulations.

The study was extended for a further 90 days to assess whether benefits could be sustained and to investigate the overall anti-aging efficacy of Oat® COM over 30, 60 and 90 days.
